The Cover Me by Tui was recently featured on “The Pet Show with Dr. Katy Nelson“. Dr. Katy Nelson is an associate veterinarian in Alexandria, Virginia as well as the host of The Pet Show with Dr. Katy. Stephanie Syberg, Tulane’s Closet’s founder, chatted with her on air about The Cover Me by Tui and how it is helpful for pets and their owners.
According to Dr. Katy’s interview, “After our pets get medical attention and need a little extra care, they’re often shamed with an E-Collar or Cone of Shame but what if we told you there’s a better or more comfortable alternative- The Cover Me by Tui.”
Stephanie Syberg explained the reason she came up with an alternative to the E-Collar or “Cone of Shame” was that she was in veterinary medicine for 16 years and clients were always asking “What else can I use? What is an alternative to the E-Collar?” She heard this question particularly with large breed dogs like Great Danes or Great Pyrenees. Per Ms. Syberg, “We make Cover Me by Tui Pet Garments for dogs up to 120- 130 lbs so the larger breeds are not limited to an E-Collar.” Dr. Katy agreed that big dogs with hard plastic cones can do some damage to the back of owners’ legs, lamps, etc. Tulane’s Closet has grown since its inception and sells The Cover Me by Tui online at tulanescloset.com as well as wholesale through veterinarian offices and pet retailers.
When asked how she got the idea for the product, Stephanie explained, “I came up with the Cover Me by Tui for people (on their pets) after surgery, and for allergies. It is made of 100% Pima Cotton which is hypoallergenic, very breathable, lightweight but durable. Pima fibers are four times the strength and length of traditional cotton fibers. The garments can be washed, re-used and washed again and remain beautiful. They are made very well and double stiched.” Dr. Katy said the Cover Me by Tui was so soft, it felt like a baby onesie- nice and comfy.
Another important feature of the Cover Me by Tui that Stephanie demonstrated to Dr. Katy is the patented “Potty Cover” which allows the pet to go to the bathroom without removing the garment. Per Stephanie, “You don’t actually have to take off the Cover Me by Tui for the pet to go to the bathroom. The potty cover unrolls, snaps back up and the Cover Me by Tui doesn’t have to be removed. People love them. They are adjustable as well if your dog is a little slender or long. You can adjust it with snaps on the side or on the chest for the best fit possible.”
As a practicing veterinarian, Dr. Katy noted The Cover Me by Tui, “Makes me also think about dogs who tend to lick catheter sites after surgery so it is great to have legs covered.” Dogs and cats often lick or chew at IV sites after procedures so the long sleeved Cover Me by Tui would help pets after procedures with IV insertion.
Dr. Katy concluded the interview by noting, “I think this is a fantastic idea, I love seeing people doing innovative things to help pets and lots of people could get a lot of great use (from the Cover Me by Tui) instead of getting their calves bruised by a hard cone.” We agree with Dr. Katy and want to help pets and owners by providing this quality alternative to the E-Collar after surgery, for allergies, hot spots, excessive licking or other conditions. The Cover Me by Tui has helped thousands of pets and their owners as a wonderful alternative to the Cone of Shame! On Dr. Katy’s show, Stephanie showcased dogs wearing it but the Cover Me by Tui also helps cats! Feline friends can wear the Cat Cover Me by Tui after surgery or for skin conditions.
